Bio of Bishop E. Earl McCloud, Jr. 

 

Bishop E. Earl McCloud, Jr. is the hundred and twenty seventh elected and

consecrated Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

​

Bishop E. Earl McCloud, Jr. is a native of Clio, Alabama and the first son born

to Mr. Errenous E. McCloud, Sr. & Mrs. Carrie Bell McCloud. As a student, he

was an activist during his days at Clio Public High School and at Tuskegee

Institute in the political campaigns of State Representatives Thomas Reed and Fred Gray.

Bishop McCloud is a strong supporter of preparation for ministry and all other undertakings in life. He has attained a BS Degree, two Master’s Degrees and the Doctor of Ministry Degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. McCloud believes that things just do not happen on their own. Things happen, when people cause them to happen. Therefore, you are either doing something or getting out of the way.

From 1974 to 1984 Bishop McCloud served in the United States Army. He credits this period of his life to his strong beliefs in order and discipline. Structured behavior is critical to long term discipline and achievement within our society. The experience gained during this ten year period of service in the 1st Infantry Division, the Infantry Officer’s Basic Course, the Adjutant General Officers Advance Course and the Military Personnel Officers Basic Course have proven helpful during the middle and later years of service in the AME Church.

Bishop McCloud has developed significant business relationships with the secular community which has produced a variety of funding for books that have benefited the 14th Episcopal District, renovated the Episcopal Residence, and raised funding for the overhaul and renovation of the Bishop F. C. James Center in Maseru, Lesotho and to complete construction of the Bishop John H. Adams and Dr. Dolly D. Adams Administration Building in Swaziland. Additional funding was secured for the purchase

of portions of a farm in Namibia, which now houses Bethel AME Church in Namibia

with nearly 72 homes for members of the AME Church.

Bishop McCloud was assigned by the 50th Quadrennial Session of the AME

Church General Conference to serve the 14th Episcopal District in West Africa

(Liberia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire, Togo-Benin, and Nigeria.

Russell-McCloud is a “visual speaking experience.” With more than 30 years

on the lecture circuit, she is categorized as being one of the nation’s best.

animated which leaves her audiences anxious for more.

 

With each presentation, she demonstrates, yet again, that she is a master at her craft as she artfully seeks to master the spoken word. In sum, this is a “speaker’s speaker” who specializes in ascertaining the organization’s culture, interests and challenges. The client, in turn, receives the value add of the experience and exposure to this qualitatively measurable speaker who is, in a word, unforgettable.

 

Each year, she speaks to more than 100,000 people in private and public organizations, in the United States and internationally. She encourages her listeners to surmount every obstacle that stands between then and… the possible. Her client list includes, but is not limited to, AARP, National Association of Women’s Business Owners; AT&T Women’s Food Service Forum, eWomen’s Network, Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club, General Motors, American Honda, Cox Enterprises, Colgate Palmolive, North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries, McDonald’s, Northrop Grumman, General Electric, McGraw Hill Publishing, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Xerox, Procter & Gamble, and The United States Postal Service.

 

Each company has benefited from having Russell-McCloud share her informed, inspirational wisdom and wit. As a member of the Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO), she studied at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. She earned her Juris Doctorate Degree at Howard University School of Law, Washington, DC. Prior to embarking upon her speaking career, for ten years, Russell-McCloud was an attorney with the Federal Communications Commission, Chief Complaints Branch, Broadcast Bureau, Washington, DC for ten years. Then she decided to follow her true passion, which was to be a business entrepreneur and global professional orator. Born in Indianapolis, IN, a graduate of Kentucky State University and Howard School of Law, she knew that her true career connection was to prepare meaningful presentations for diverse audiences.

​

She received many honors, including being presented more than 300 keys to American cities. She has serves as the 11th National President of The Links, Inc. and the National Parliamentarian to the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She has been named as one of the top five business motivators in the country by Black Enterprise Magazine; identified as one of the top 10 speakers in America, “Success Run in Our Race”; featured in ESSENCE Magazine, and in EBONY magazine as one of the most influential people in the United States, 2017-Inductee, HBCU Hall of Fame-Lifetime Achievement, and featured as the cover story of SPEAKER magazine, National Speaker’s Association 2007 July/August.

A resident of Atlanta, GA, Russell-McCloud is married to Bishop E. Earl McCloud, Jr., the 127th elected and consecrated Bishop of the AEM Church.
